Enbridge is proud to partner with the Dominion Institute to help make the Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge possible. Each year, Aboriginal youth across the country are challenged to write a short story about a defining moment in Aboriginal history. A winner is chosen in both the 14 to 18 year old category and the 19 to 29 year old category. And each winner is awarded a prize. Through this writing challenge the creativity and talent of Aboriginal youth is uncovered and Canadians are educated about the moments that have shaped our country and Aboriginal people.

In 1997, a group of young professionals concerned about the erosion of a common memory and civic identity in Canada formed the Dominion Institute - a national charitable organization dedicated to creating active and informed citizens through greater knowledge and appreciation of the Canadian story. The Institute uses public opinion research, innovative television programs, new media and in-school programs to help Canadians connect with the country's history, shared citizenship and democratic values. The Dominion Institute partnered with Enbridge in 2005 to make the Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge possible.
